The executive mayor, Komane Koalane, confirms that the employee who tested positive for the virus received the results over the weekend. He says despite the closure of the main building, service delivery to the community will not be affected.

Koalane said it is not the first time the municipality's office has had a confirmed Covid-19 case. He says to date at least 18 of its employees have tested positive for the virus. He adds, however, that in the last month 16 of those employees who tested positive have returned to work. He adds they have tested negative for the virus after recovering. 

He added that no death due to the virus was reported in the municipality’s office.

Meanwhile, Koalane says that contact tracing will take place while immediate contacts have been asked to self-isolate, as they will be screened and tested for the virus.
