The Proteas welcome the challenge against England which starts on Wednesday at Headingley in Leeds.

The Proteas and the English go head-to-head in a three-match One Day International series which will also be both teams’ last preparation for next month’s ICC Champions trophy.

The Proteas expect a stern challenge from the hosts, even though they are ranked fifth in the world at the moment.

South Africa won both their warm-up games against Sussex and Northants over the weekend and they are feeling well prepared for the first match.

The star veteran batsman, Hashim Amla, says that they have a good balance in the side and are looking for a good series leading into their Champion Trophy opener against Sri Lanka on 3 June.

“We’ve got a very good balance in the team.

“We’ve got a few of us that have been around for a few years and we’ve got a few very exciting youngsters.

“Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, Wayne Parnell has been around but he still has age on his side.

“Dwaine Pretorius, we’ve got a whole bunch of guys. Andile Phehlukwayo, so I think we’ve got a very good mix.

“Hopefully we can put it all together in this series and take it into the Champions Trophy.

Wednesday’s first ODI between England and South Africa at Headingley is scheduled to get underway at 15:00.
