Half-centuries by Aiden Markram and Matthew Breetzke paved the way for a South Africa Invitation XI to ease past Bangladesh by six wickets in their 50-over tour match at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on Thursday.

Set 256 for victory following a strong all-round bowling display, the two openers put on 147 for the first wicket as the hosts chased down their victory target with 21 balls to spare.

Markram, who had an impressive Test debut for the Standard Bank Proteas against the Bangladeshis in their recently concluded series, top-scored with a powerful 82 (68 balls, 8 fours, 1 six).

Beetzke, 18, hit 71 (100 balls, 9 fours) opposite him, before captain JP Duminy (34) and AB de Villiers (43) did most of the other work as the South Africans comfortably cruised home.

The pick of the visiting bowlers was Mahmudullah with his two for 13 in four overs.

The tourists, who play South Africa in the first of three one-day internationals in Kimberley on Sunday, were earlier bundled out for 255 in 48.1 overs.

Four bowlers took two wickets each - Robbie Frylinck (2/25), Malusi Siboto (2/49), Mbulelo Budaza (2/41) and Aaron Phangiso (2/46).

The remaining two wickets were claimed by Beuran Hendricks (1/40) and Wiaan Mulder (1/25).

Star Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who missed the 2-0 Test series loss, top-scored with 68 (67 balls, 9 fours), while there was also a half-century for Sabbir Rahman (52 off 54 balls, 2 fours, 3 sixes).
