The VKB Knights last night suffered their first loss of the Ram Slam T20 series when they succumbed to a class Titans side that showed exactly why they are reigning champions.
After winning the toss at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley, the Knights asked the visitors to bat first in an innings that delivered 199 runs thanks to half-centuries from both Henry Davids and Aiden Markram.
Although they looked like a massive threat in the early stages, the Knights batting order struggled to gain momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals.
Opening batsman Grant Mokoena got the home side off to a flyer with a quick 21 off 13 balls but with a top score of 37 off 29 courtesy of middle-order batsman, Andries Gous, the Knights never did quite enough to threaten the Titans
In the end, the Titans, who welcomed back Dale Steyn, cruised to a comfortable 38-run victory and in so doing solidifying their spot at the top of the points table.
The Knights will return back to the drawing board and hope to come back stronger when they face the Dolphins in Durban tomorrow.
