The VKB Knights seamer, Duanne Olivier, just wants to play his part in the national side, regards of whether or not he will get to play against India during the 2nd Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion.


On Monday evening Olivier was called-up along with Lungi Ngidi of the Titans as cover for the injured Dale Steyn.

The lanky fast bowler is no a stranger to the Test side and has already played in five Tests and has 17 wickets to his name.

Following South Africa’s outstanding 72 run win over India during the 1st Test in Cape Town, Olivier told OFM Sport that he just wants to contribute and feed off of the bowling attacks energy.

“It’s always an honour for me to get a call-up to the Test squad, irrespective of if I play or not.

“I’m very happy for the boys, they played exceptionally well yesterday (Monday) and over the past few days.

“All the bowlers bowled well and all the batsman contributed when they needed to.

“It’s obviously exciting to meet up with the guys, be in the squad and just feed off bowlers going forward.

“It’s a massive series against India and me it’s a matter of contributing if I get a chance to play.

“I just want to contribute to the team and hopefully we can go two-nil up in the series.”

The second Test between the Proteas and India at Super Sport Park begins on Saturday morning.
