The Proteas and VKB Knights seamer, Duanne Olivier, has signed a contract which will see him playing County Cricket for the first time in his career.

Olivier will play for Derbyshire during the first half of County Championship, before returning to South Africa.

The player will also be hoping to represent Derbyshire during the entire One-Day Cup campaign, however, this is subject to approval by Cricket South Africa.

The player will be replaced at the side for the second half of the season by the New Zealand international spinner Mitchell Santner.

"It’s a great honor for me to go overseas and play for Derbyshire.

"I just want to do well for the team and learn as much as I can from the senior players", Olivier told OFM Sport while representing South Africa A during their three-day match against Australia at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

Oliver has 284 first-class wickets to his name in 72 matches for the Knights, as well as 17 Test wickets in 5 Tests for South Africa.
