The departure of the VKB Knights coach, Nicky Bojé, has been confirmed and he will be bidding the team farewell before the conclusion of the season. Bojé will be heading to England after his wife was offered a job at a hospital in the UK.

The Knights’ current assistant, Alan Kruger, and the former captain, Werner Coetsee, will take over as the coaches of the team.

The pair will take charge when the domestic season resumes after the inaugural Mzansi Super League which starts on Friday evening when the Cape Town Blitz face the Tshwane Spartans at Newlands.

Kruger has been the assistant of the team for quite some time, while Coetsee recently called it a day after some 360 top-flight games across all formats of the game.

Kruger in his turn scored 5123 first-class runs for the Eagles and Griqualand West, and he also claimed 218 wickets as a seamer. Kruger and Coetsee will act in a caretaker role for the remainder of the season.

The former Proteas spinner, Bojé, will remain involved with coaching in England. During his first season after taking over from Sarel Cilliers as the coach, Bojé, led the Knights to the then Sunfoil Series title. Last season, the weather Gods played a big role in the team not being able to successfully defend their title.

The Knights will advertise the full-time head coach position at the conclusion of the current season.

After five rounds in 4-Day Domestic series, the Knights occupy the third spot in the standing with two wins, two defeats and a draw.
