India thrash Japan in Bloemfontein─── MORGAN PIEK 15:19 Tue, 21 Jan 2020
The defending champions, India, are well course for a record five title after trashing Japan by 10 wickets in Bloemfontein on Tuesday in 2020 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.
India won the toss at the Mangaung Oval and invited Japan to have a bat first.
Shu Noguchi, Kento Dobell, Maximillian Clements where the only batsman to score more than one run for their team. Noguchi and Dobell each scored 7 runs, will Clements troubled the scorers with just 5 runs.
The spinner, Ravi Bishnoi, was in destructive form with the ball, as he claimed 4/5 in his 8 overs. In the process, he also bowled three maidens.
Kartik Tyagi returned figures of 3/10, while Akash Singh recorded 2/11.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kumar Kushagra needed just 4.5 overs to chase down the meager total of 42 runs for the win. Jaiswal was unbeaten with 29, while Kushagra scored an unbeaten 13.
For his efforts with the ball, Bishnoi, was named as the man of the match.
In Wednesday’s matches, South Africa faces Canada at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. The match between Afghanistan and the UAE, as well as, Pakistan versus Zimbabwe, will also be played in Potchefstroom.
In Bloemfontein, New Zealand, will face Sri Lanka.
All of the above-mentioned matches will start at 10:00.
