Demi Lovato breaks her silence

Demi Lovato speaks up

Demi Lovato said that she was thankful to be alive and needed time to recover in her first remarks since an overdose nearly two weeks ago.

Writing to her more than 70 million followers on Instagram, Lovato gave few details on her 24 July hospitalisation but noted that she has long been open about her struggles with addiction.

"What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time," the 25-year-old star wrote. "It is something that I must continue to overcome and have not done yet," she wrote.

In June, Lovato released a song entitled Sober in which she indicated a relapse and apologises in verse to her parents.

And just days after the singer checked into a rehab facility, a rep confirms her remaining Tell Me You Love Me tour dates have been canceled.

Demi's upcoming shows next month in Mexico as well as November concerts in Chile, Argentina and Brazil have been axed. Live Nation and Lotus Productions "wish Demi Lovato the best now and in the future and we hope to see her soon in South America." Refunds will be available.

E!News would later confirm that Demi was discharged from the hospital and flew to an undisclosed rehab facility where she will stay for an extended period of time.

Gordon Ramsey in trouble

Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant Hell’s Kitchen in Las Vegas certainly lived up to its name recently when two people had to be rushed to hospital after suffering injuries from a flaming drink.

The local fire department was called after the customers injured themselves drinking the eatery’s signature drink – a flaming cocktail dubbed a Rum Donkey, People reports.

“The particular type of specialty drink served at Hell’s Kitchen is served at the finest restaurants worldwide without incident. But out of an abundance of caution, Hell’s Kitchen has removed the drink item at issue from the menu.

“All of us here at Caesars Palace and the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant Group are concerned for the injured guests, and are hopeful for their speedy recovery.”

Lindsay Lohan ruffles some feathers

When the powerful #MeToo movement went viral, scores of celebs opened up on their experiences of sexual harassment, assault and abuse.

But while the movement got her peers talking, it clearly left Lindsay Lohan cold.

She sparked outrage after her recent interview with The Times, during which she had some rather harsh words for women who spoke out about their #MeToo experiences.

While she says she does care for abused women and respects that everyone handles situations in different ways, she does not tolerate “attention seekers” adding that women should report these incidents immediately, reports People.

“I can’t speak on something I don’t live, right? Look, I am very supportive of women. Everyone goes through their own experiences in their own ways,”

“I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.”

Her comments unleashed a flood of criticism on Twitter, where users labelled her the attention-seeker.

This is not the first time the actress has sparked controversy when it comes to women speaking out about sexual assault.

In December 2017, the actress uploaded an Instagram video in which she defended Harvey Weinstein after reports emerged of his sexual misconduct, with dozens of A-listers coming forward about his alleged sexual abuse, reports BBC.
