Kings Louis reigns supreme at SA Open | News Article
Louis Oosthuizen - Tyrone Winfield

Louis Oosthuizen carded a final round of four under par 67 at the Randpark Golf Club to win the South African Open for the first time in his career.

Oosthuizen led the tri-sanctioned event from start to finish win by six strokes with a score of 18 under par.

This victory saw Oosthuizen become the sixth player in history to win both the SA Open and the Open Championship after Bobby Locke, Gary Player, Bob Charles (New Zealand), Ernie Els and Henrik Stenson (Sweden).

Oosthuizen says winning the world’s second old Open is very special.

“To be the fourth South African to win both – that feels really special.

“It’s always tough when you’ve been through some stuff and the people who have been behind you are not here to celebrate with you.

“My wife and kids have been phenomenal. It would’ve been great to have them here with me.

“My putting has been as good as it’s ever been, I had all the confidence to hit my putts, even if I hit the ball two or three-feet past.

“You don’t have that all the weeks, but this week I definitely had that.”

It was Oosthuizen’s first win in more than two and half years, and his first national title at any level in South Africa.

The Sunshine and European Tour now moves to the beautiful Leopard Creek Country Club the Alfred Dunhill Championship from 13 to 16 December.
