A 20-year-old man has been charged with allegedly raping a child on Saturday afternoon at a Pretoria restaurant.
It's alleged the rape occurred in the men's bathroom of a Dros restaurant.
A social media post, cited by a newspaper, indicated he had been scouting his victim in the children's area.
Another newspaper reports that male patrons assaulted the man after he was found.
NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, said the man has been charged with rape, intimidation, possession of drugs, and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
"This matter has been postponed to 2 October for further investigation. The accused is remanded in custody," said Mjonondwane.
"The NPA is working closely with our partners to ensure this girl receives the necessary assistance in order to help her to cope with this horrendous crime."
