FS student nurses receive outstanding stipends─── MARK STEENBOK 15:40 Thu, 18 Feb 2016
Bloemfontein - Free State student nurses have finally received their outstanding stipends from the Free State Department of Health.
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) earlier stated that students from the Free State School of Nursing have not received stipends for up to four months. This led to nurses from various institutions marching to the department's offices in Bloemfontein on Monday.
Denosa was also unhappy with understaffed health facilities and demanded better working conditions.
Denosa Free State secretary, Gift Mnyamane, says 200 community service professional nurses have been appointed since Monday. He says although they are happy with the progress, there is still some outstanding issues that need to be resolved.
