Kimberley - The Northern Cape has signed a memorandum to address the critical shortage of nurses in the province.
Health Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, appeared before the portfolio committee on health and answered questions about the province's struggle to lure medical personnel.
He said the Northern Cape Health Department has signed an agreement with the Western Cape to employ all medical personnel found to be in excess in that province.
Motsoaledi said his department conducted an exercise to assess why some medical personnel claim not to find employment while there is a shortage such as this in the Northern Cape. He said they found that most of these complainants were people from outside the country who did not receive accreditation to work inside South Africa.
