Kimberley - The fraud and corruption case against a Sol Plaatje official who is linked to illegal activities with building plans was today referred to the Kimberley Regional court.
Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase says 48-year-old Theodor Williams will have to appear in court again on April 5.
Williams allegedly charged residents for the approval of building plans to new and existing buildings. Nkwalase said the investigation showed that the apparent fraud took place between 2011 and 2016. About ten victims approached the police so far in connection with the matter.
Police said the estimated value of the fraudulent acts combined with the salary gained during the period of his employment exceeds R2.2 million.
He was earlier granted bail of R2 500.
