Sannieshof - Nine people including two women are expected to appear in the Sannieshof Magistrate's Court in North West today in connection with fraud and corruption relating to the irregular issuing of driver's licences.
Spokesperson for the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), Simon Zwane, says the suspects are employed as driving school officials and clerks at driving test centres at Sannieshof, Delareyville and Vryburg. The owner of a driving school was also arrested on Monday. Zwane says more arrests are expected to follow today.
"The National Traffic Anti-Corruption Unit of the RTMC led the investigation which started four months ago. The unit concentrated on four driving test centres in the province." Zwane says investigations are continuing in order to arrest more people that have been identified as culprits who have taken part in the corruption.
Zwane appeals to the public to report irregularities by calling 0861-400-800.
