Hit-and-run attorney has several prior drunk driving charges─── MARK STEENBOK 15:39 Wed, 26 Apr 2017
Bloemfontein - A 36-year-old attorney who was arrested over the weekend in connection with a hit and run accident, which resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman, has been granted bail of R10 000.
The court heard today that Cobus Bredenkamp had appeared in court on April 19, on charges of driving under the influence, and paid a R500 admission of guilt fine.
He also has another pending case against him on the same charge, for which a court date has not been set, and a further case against him was withdrawn on February 22 2001 in Pretoria West for the same offence.
Bredenkamp was arrested on Saturday at his Bayswater home to where the white bakkie, which was involved in the accident, was traced. He faces charges of culpable homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. The case has been postponed until May 22.
