Bloemfontein - Seven suspects are expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court today in connection with two separate farm attacks in the district recently.

North West police spokesperson, Mpeile Talane, says six suspects are linked to the attack on Dries Botha on his farm Tuesday night. He says all seven suspects were also arrested in connection with another farm attack last month on Hennie Eksteen on his farm in the Skeerpoort area.

According to Talane the suspects were arrested on Wednesday in Hartbeespoortdam after police received a tip-off from the public. A firearm was also confiscated. The suspects stand accused of attempted murder. Botha had to undergo emergency surgery after he sustained three shot wounds. Botha was attacked outside his farm house just after 20:00. He allegedly went outside to activate an alarm system. Nothing was stolen.

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in connection to other farm attacks in North West in which two farmers were killed over the past weekend.

Police spokesperson, Amanda Funani, says five suspects are wanted after the 68-year-old Patrick Itumeng was shot dead in his house on his farm outside Vryburg on Friday. Itumeng sustained a shot wound to his forehead after his attackers fired four shots. Itumeng's wife was also shot in her hand. She was rushed to a hospital. Nothing was stolen. Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. Funani says police in the Amalia area are also searching for an unknown number of attackers after a farmer Elsa Erasmus's body was found in the veld on her farm. She was brutally attacked with a sharp object. Erasmus went missing from her farm house on Saturday. A concerned neighbour went to her farm house after her concerned children could not get hold of Erasmus on her cell phone.

Funani appeals to anyone with information to contact their nearest police station.
