Man (40) in court for rape of child’s friend (12)─── MOEKETSI MOGOTSI 15:59 Mon, 17 Jul 2017
Bloemfontein - A 40-year-old man appeared before the Bethulie Magistrate’s Court this morning for the rape of a 12-year-old friend of his daughter.
The man was arrested on Saturday evening after the little girl reported the alleged incident to an off duty police officer.
Police spokesperson, Yanga Ngcukana, says the girl was playing with the suspect’s children at their home in Vergenoeg when the man took her to a back shack and raped her.
He says the police officer then informed the girl’s parents before they went to the police station to report the incident.
“The police immediately went to the suspect’s house to arrest him and the child was taken to a local doctor who also confirmed penetration.
Ncukana says the man will remain in police custody until he makes a formal bail application on Wednesday.
