Farmers respond fast after apparent robbers spotted in latest #FSfarmattacks | News Article

Farmers from Theunissen and Virginia in the Free State were quick to respond to an incident on a farm in the area yesterday just after midnight.

Five men were allegedly outside a house on a farm at Leeuwfontein, located in a game camp surrounded by a local mine.

According to the VKB and Free State Agriculture Safety Desk, Gustav Louw was wakened up by his dogs barking. He allegedly saw one of five suspects climbing over a security fence.

According to information, Louw fired a warning shot. The suspects then fled the scene. The local safety plan was activated and police were also on the scene.

This incident follows shortly after four farm workers and two domestic workers were tied up inside a farm house near the Lesotho Border at Clocolan on Tuesday.

Six armed suspects then allegedly loaded the stolen items on a tractor and a wagon at the farm. They drove to the nearby Caledon River, after which they allegedly carried the loot through the river.
