NW homeopath arrested for selling medical certificates─── DANE BEISHEIM 16:09 Tue, 21 Nov 2017
The Serious Commercial Crime Unit of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in North West Province today arrested a homeopath (62) who practices in Rustenburg at Wildebeest Farm, for allegedly selling medical certificates.
The suspect was arrestedby the Hawks following a complaint alleging that she is selling medicalcertificates to patients.
According to the Hawks spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, the suspect is alleged to have issued medical certificates, without prior examination, at a consultation fee of R300. The suspectwill make her first appearance at the Tlhabane Magistrate’s Court on 22 November. She isfacing charges of fraud and contravening the Allied Health Professions Councilof South Africa Act.
The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in North West - Major General Linda Mbana warned that fraud relating to the medical profession has become rife and the Hawks will work tirelessly to ensure that the perpetrators face the full might of the law.
