#BackToSchool: Some Free State learners still without schools | News Article

The Free State Department of Education says they are working around the clock to ensure the placement of learners who are still without schools.

This, after they confirmed more than a thousand learners had not yet been placed in schools. The department’s spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, told OFM News there are plans underway to ensure the majority of learners are placed in schools by next week. He says it is, however, not guaranteed that the learners will be placed at the schools preferred by their parents.

He explains the pupils will be bought up to speed with the work they would have missed once the placement processes are completed.

“We will make sure that those learners are brought to speed through our intervention and catch-up programmes”.

Ndaba had previously told OFM News that issues relating to the placement of learners are largely due to late applications and parents’ school preferences. He urges all parents and guardians to work with the department to ensure that the process runs smoothly.
