Anti-corruption group pleased with #VredeDairy court order─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:55 Mon, 22 Jan 2018
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) says it is pleased with the action taken by the Asset Forfeiture Unit against those implicated in a number of state capture cases.
This, after the NPA’s Asset Forfeiture Unit’s application to have the controversial Vrede Dairy farm in the Free State seized.
The anti-corruption group, in a statement, said they believe the securing of a court order against the Estina Dairy Farm in Vrede is just the beginning and is hopeful other corruption cases against senior government officials and the Gupta brothers will begin to unfold. The organisation had previously laid charges of treason, corruption, extortion, fraud and theft against Mineral Resources Minister, Mosebenzi Zwane, who was Free State Agriculture MEC when more than R220 million was looted out of the province.
According to emails, now referred to as the #GuptaLeaks, a substantial amount earmarked for this project was used to fund the Gupta family’s infamous Sun City wedding.
Meanwhile, the Free State Provincial Government, says it has not received any relevant official documentation from the NPA on the matter. However, it welcomes that the #VredeDairy matter is under investigation by different law enforcement authorities and commits to cooperate with all investigations.
