About 200 angry residents embarked on a protest this morning in Batho, Heidedal, and Botshabelo in Mangaung in the Free State.

According to the National Unemployed Voters Organisation’s (NUVO) President, Mzwandile Phupha, protestors were burning tyres and throwing rocks and refuge on the road.

Phupha told OFM News the residents are demanding jobs they were promised in December during the ANC conference held at Nasrec.

He says the leadership of the ANC, and Mangaung's Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, failed to provide them with jobs, and there were many excuses as to why their promises could not be delivered. Phupha says the situation is currently calm, but police are monitoring the area.
