A Free State cabinet reshuffle is definitely on the cards as the new Premier Sisi Ntombela is settling in her new position.

She confirmed yesterday - during her inauguration celebration - that she will soon be reshuffling her cabinet and warned government officials that those who are not performing, will get the boot.

Ntombela, who was the MEC Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), is expected to start off with her reshuffling by appointing a successor. She said her reshuffling will ensure that the province will prosper and that service delivery is a priority.

OFM News' Katleho Morapela reports that several calls have been made in connection with her to-do-list as the new premier.

Ntombela said despite the fact that she has been accused of being a Magashule-supporter, she does not take orders from her predecessor.

Opposition parties have been cautiously welcoming her as the new premier. Calls of dealing with the fact that two of her current provincial cabinet members are facing criminal charges have been made.

Ntombela, who is also now in charge of hiring and firing heads of departments, will also have to answer to recommendations from members of the provincial legislature to suspend Agriculture HOD, Peter Thabethe, as he is also facing charges in connection with the controversial multi-million rand Vrede Dairy Project.
