The police in Bloemfontein have launched a manhunt for an unknown male suspect with half a tongue, who allegedly attacked and stabbed a 27-year-old woman in her house.

Police spokesperson, Ikobeng Hlubi, told OFM News that the suspect allegedly entered the victim’s house in the Chris Hani informal settlement on Friday where he instructed her to undress and when she refused, he then allegedly assaulted and stabbed the woman in the process. The police are also investigating a case of rape.

Hlubi says the victim managed to fight back and bit off a part of her attacker’s tongue. “The suspect forcefully kissed the victim and the victim seized the opportunity to fight back by biting her assailant’s tongue. The suspect was, however, not deterred as he continued to attack the victim. The police are on the lookout for the suspect, who is bound to seek medical attention soon.”

Hlubi says the suspect was last seen at the National Hospital in Bloemfontein earlier this morning but managed to flee before the police could get hold of him.

“Anyone who might see a person with half a tongue should please contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Jacob Kotoane of Mangaung Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit on the following numbers: 051-406-4492 or 081-844-9998,” says Hlubi.
