This comes after the second suspect was apprehended yesterday afternoon by local police following a manhunt, while his accomplice was arrested at the scene of last week’s attack. 

Police spokesperson, Mosili Ntsika, says one of the assailants is also a farmer, who partly owns the farm in Rousfontein outside Dewetsdorp where the incident took place with a number of other farmers, including the deceased. 

According to Ntsika, on Friday, May 18th, the suspects went onto the premises to collect cattle. 

The victims, 68-year-old Rathabeng Qathatsi and 65-year-old Thato Qathatsi - brothers who originally hail from Botshabelo, but reside on the farm - confronted the suspects, believing they were stealing the cattle. She says an argument developed between the men over the cattle. Things escalated thereafter with the two men allegedly assaulting the elderly siblings with unknown objects. Ntsika confirms the Qathatsi brothers succumbed to their head injuries and were found dead at the scene by authorities.

She told OFM News the suspects will appear in the Local Magistrate’s Court later on today.
