NPA disappointed with FS High Court ruling on #GuptaAssets─── 17:03 Mon, 28 May 2018
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Luvuyo Mfaku, says the outcome of the Gupta’s bid to have their multi million rand asserts unfrozen is disappointing.
This, after the Free State High Court’s Judge Phillip Loubser discharged the provisional restraint order granted on April 11 for assets allegedly linked to the Vrede Dairy Project with costs.
These assets include among others over 40 properties, two aircraft, a helicopter and a fleet of luxury cars. Mfaku says no one disputes that the contract the Free State Agriculture Department entered into with Gupta-linked Estina, was unlawful.
He says today’s judgement does not affect the criminal case into the Vrede Dairy Project. Speaking to the media outside the court, Mfaku could however not confirm as to whether they are going to appeal or not.
Today’s judgement comes after the NPA’s preservation order granted in January for R220m in assets allegedly linked to the project was also reversed by this very court in March.
