The police in the North West province are investigating an attempted murder and house robbery.

This comes after an elderly couple was attacked by three suspects on their farm in the Kuilfontein around the Litchenburg area yesterday. Police spokesperson, Aafje Botma, told OFM News that Hansie van Loggerenberg (80) was overpowered by three suspects at his house. He was allegedly hit over the head with a pipe and was seriously injured.

Botma went on to say that his wife had managed to lock herself in one of the rooms and she called for help.

"The three suspects allegedly fled when help started arriving at the house. They fled with a rifle, revolver and a shotgun. The police and the community immediately started a search for the suspects and they continued this morning. Hansie van Loggerenberg was admitted to a hospital in Rustenburg and his condition is critical."

No arrests have been made yet.
