Public Works Department under scrutiny in FS─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 17:11 Thu, 19 Jul 2018
Improving service delivery, zero tolerance to fraud and corruption are amongst some of the key focus areas for the Minister of Public Works, Thulas Nxesi.
During a media briefing earlier, Nxesi committed to fast-tract investigations into several corruption allegations within his department and to find answered to the 684 appointments that have been pushed through in his department within a period of just four months.
This comes days after Public Enterprise Minister, Pravin Gordhan, raised concerns over these appointments and requested for their review. Nxesi, also mentioned that he is considering a lifestyle audit for all the management of Public Works.
Meanwhile, opposition parties in the Free State have lambasted the provincial government together with the department of Public Works and Infrastructure for a number of incomplete projects.
The DA in the province has called for investigations in the multi-million rand worth projects that still stands incomplete and for this department to be held accountable for the role they played.
