Education condemns #SchoolViolence | News Article

School violence has been making headlines in Central South Africa for the past month. This comes after OFM News reported three stabbing incidents in three different provinces within the space of only a few weeks.

The first stabbing that was reported involved grade 9 and 10 learners in the Northern Cape. Another incident took place not too long after that in the North West. A 17-year-old boy stabbed his 24-year-old mathematics teacher to death. The most recent stabbing incident shook the Free State when a grade 6 pupil stabbed a grade eight learner earlier this week.

The Free State Education spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, told OFM News the department condemns these actions in the strongest possible terms. He went on to explain that the department wants learners to remember that schools are a place for learning and not violence.
