The controversy surrounding the Gupta-linked Mediosa company, is one of the alleged corruption scandals expected to come under scrutiny on Wednesday.

Apart from the Mediosa controversy, other scandals include amonst others, the Vrede Dairy scandal, the Bloemfontein white elephant taxi rank, the Free State government website saga as well as the multimillion-rand Ramkraal Project.

This, as the DA in the Free State is set to brief the media about their request to the Zondo Commission to investigate state capture with particular focus on this province under former premier Ace Magashule’s leadership.

The DA’s press briefing set to be led by the party’s newly elected Free State Premier candidate, Patricia Kopane, Chairperson Annelie Lotriet and MPL Roy Jankielsohn comes just weeks after it was revealed during the State Capture Inquiry that the Free State Office of the Premier spent an exorbitant amount of R79.3 million on the Gupta-owned newspaper, The New Age.

Of the eight provinces that contributed to the R113 million paid to this newspaper, the Free State made the highest payments under Magashule’s tenure.

OFM News previously reported opposition parties in the Free State demanded answers on money spent on heritage sites after an oversight visit to the Old Ramkraal Prison in Bloemfontein.
