#FS government joins call against Dukwana | News Article

The Free State Provincial Government is the latest in the list of those condemning statements that former MEC of Economic Development in the province, Mxolisi Dukwana, made with reference to State Capture and ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule.

Dukwana spoke out and alleged that former FS Premier, Ace Magashule, was part of a deal where Tony Gupta offered him R2m a year, in exchange to allow the family to gain control of a project in the Lejweleputswa district, said to be worth over R40bn. In a statement issued Wednesday morning, Director-General of the Free State, Kopung Ralikontsane, urged Dukwana to allow court processes to be concluded before he makes public statements on the matter.

Ralikontsane’s comments come on the back of those made by the ANC Youth League earlier this morning, which alleges that Dukwana is making these comments because he is - according to them - still bitter after his era as MEC was ended by Magashule in 2012, and his subsequent rejection by party branches in the province.

Last month, Dukwana filed an Anton Piller application, which is a court order that provides the right to search premises and seize evidence without prior warning. The application was granted by the court and the sheriff went to the offices of the Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, and the current MEC for economic development, Limakatso Mahasa. However, none of the documents Dukwana was after could be found. In his statement, Ralikontsane confirmed the matter of the Anton Piller application, which is under the jurisdiction of the Bloemfontein High Court, between Dukwana, Ntombela and Limakatso Mahasa.

“We would like to reiterate that it is in the interest of all South Africans, including the Free State Provincial Government and its leadership, for any citizen with credible information to avail that such information for the assistance of the Commission of Inquiry on State Capture, or any Commission established in terms of the Constitution,” said Ralikontsane.
