Veld fires rage in Trompsburg─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 18:00 Thu, 15 Nov 2018

Firefighters in the area of Trompsburg in the Free State are currently battling to contain veld fires that broke out earlier this afternoon.
The General Manager of the Free State umbrella Fire Protection Association (FPA), Johan Breytenbach, says the veld fire is out of control at the moment and a large number of land owners, together with FPA members, are battling to contain it.
He says this is due to strong winds and hot weather conditions in the province.
Breytenbach says they are currently unsure of the extent of the fire and warns motorists driving past the town to be cautious. He says there are no reports of injuries or livestock losses at this stage.
