#Koffiefontein calls for Bheki Cele to visit─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:38 Sun, 09 Dec 2018
The troubled town of Koffiefontein in the Free State has in its latest plea to national leaders called on Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, to come and address them.
This was revealed during an interview with community members on Thursday, where it was revealed that police in the area have been using excessive force on residents without provocation. Residents say they are also concerned about the shooting incident that took place last year which left two police officers dead.
The case remains unresolved and they call for Cele to place pressure on the Free State police commissioner, Moeketsi Sempe, to intensify investigations into the incident and the matter of police brutality in the area. This comes after the town has for the last four months been engaged in a bitter protest with the Letsemeng Local Municipality, where alleged maladministration and poor delivery of basic services is alleged to be taking place.
