Reitz farm murder accused to be sentenced today─── 09:59 Fri, 24 Feb 2012
Kroonstad - Two minors who were earlier this week found guilty of the murder of Reitz farmer Thinus Uitenweerde will be sentenced today. The two, aged 16 and 17, were found guilty in the Kroonstad Circuit Court of robbery, the murder of 50-year-old Uitenweerde and the sexual assault of his 85-year-old mother, Bella. One of the two was acquitted of assaulting Uitenweerde's wheelchair-bound wife Margriet while the other was found guilty. The conviction dates back to August 1 2011 when Uitenweerde's body was found buried in a shallow grave on his farm in Reitz. The two women were found alive inside the house and admitted to hospital. Both accused earlier pleaded not guilty to all charges.
