Karabus back home─── 12:49 Fri, 17 May 2013
Cape Town - South African doctor Cyril Karabus is finally home after he had problems with his visa in the United Arab Emirates.
Karabus caught a direct flight departing early this morning and arrived at Cape Town International Airport a short while ago.
eNCA's Lester Kiewits was one of many who caught up with Karabus as he walked through the terminal building door.
The 78-year-old paediatric oncologist has been detained in the UAE since August 18, after being sentenced in absentia for the death of a Yemeni girl he treated for leukaemia in 2002. Karabus was acquitted on March 21, and won a subsequent appeal.
However, his return to South Africa was delayed because he was on the UAE's database as a fugitive from justice.
