COLUMN: Anything is possible | News Article

There can never be any doubt about the majestic nature of the lion. That beast rules the jungle.

I remember growing up as a kid and being asked in class by my teacher; "Fannie, which animal best describes you?". To which I passionately responded: "A lion, mam". We grew up thinking and seeing a lion as this most feared untouchable animal in the jungle. We never imagined the day we could wake up to the shocking news that a lion has been attacked by another animal. However, last night I went to bed believing that reality, which sadly changed today when I learned that a Buffalo has attacked and killed a fully grown male lion at Kruger National Park.

Soccer has been around for thousands if not million years now and until this year, there has never ever been a South African or African player whose goal has ever been shortlisted for being the best goal worldwide. But recently we woke up to the news that for the first time ever in the history of soccer, a goalkeeper's goal has been shortlisted as one of the best three in the world; making him the first and the only goalkeeper, South African and African player to get shortlisted for this award. Oscarine Masuluke is his name. After hearing the above news, I now know and believe that anything and everything is possible in life. That impossible is nothing. Even the word IMPOSSIBLE says: "I'm possible". I now know that the mere fact that something hasn't been done before doesn't mean it can't be done! I now know that the bridge standing between possibility and impossibility is called YOU. As of this moment, I fully comprehend what a wise man meant when he said: "A lion doesn't concern itself with the opinions of the sheep". In other words, a lion doesn't need permission to hunt, it wakes up and hunts.

You too need to get to that point where you pay more attention and listen to your inner voice more than you listen to the opinion of others. You need to wake up one morning, without asking for anyone's approval or permission, and do what you want to do.

Often times we get so caught up and used to a certain way of how things are in life, such that we end up not being able to see the possibility and existence of a different reality from the prevailing one. This is best demonstrated by what people said to the Wright brothers when they said they wanted to create an airplane. Because people back then have accepted a car as the only means of travelling. They were told that it's impossible to create something that can fly and transport people. But the Wright brothers chose to listen to their inner voice that said "anything is possible" rather than listen to the opinions of others and let other people decide their fate. Because of their courageous decision to go ahead and do something they were told is impossible, we have airplanes connecting people all over the world.

Here's something about life; when you change the way you look at things, the things that you look at changes. This phrase "GOD IS NOWHERE",  has two meanings to it. Depending on how you see things in life; it can mean GOD IS NO-WHERE or GOD IS NOW-HERE. And this is exactly what I mean about changing the way you look at things. Some things in your life are only impossible because you view and see them as such, while in principle and reality they're not impossible. We live in the world full of possibilities, the world where you can be anything you want to be and achieve anything you set your eyes on. So many great inventions are yet to be born and brought to reality... but that will only happen if we believe that anything is possible. But it's sayings like "easier said than done" which hold people back and prevent them from believing that anything is possible. Such a mindset automatically says to you "this is going to be hard" and unfortunately, most people end up at that phase of saying those words without attempting to do it because those words cripple and suppress their belief to do something. So many people are today battling depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, being stuck and wanting to get out of an abusive relationship.... and whether these people make it to the other side or not depends solely on them.

Let me say this to you; it's POSSIBLE to overcome anything and everything in life. You simply need to make the decision and choice to put up a FIGHT and FIGHT your way into the light. You are your own life's captain. Stir your life's ship in the direction of your intended destination.

Remember the POSSIBILITY of everything and anything you want in life, is a FIGHT away! You have to FIGHT for it to get it!

HAPPY FIGHTDAY.
