Gosa symposium to focus on the way forward─── SABRINA DEAN 14:10 Tue, 15 Mar 2016
Langebaan - Grain roleplayers from along the entire value chain will be gathered in Langebaan in the Western Cape this week for the annual Grain Handling Organisation of Southern Africa Symposium and AGM.
Gosa President, Annatjie Loio, says there is no specific theme this year but rather a focus on how best to overcome and manage the diverse challenges faced by grain roleplayers.
“What we want to focus on is the drought, what we are doing and the imports for this year, our consumption. So it will focus on our way forward.”
Speakers include the likes of well-known scenario planner, Clem Sunter, who will outline red flags and implications for the agriculture sector, agricultural economist Roelof Botha and Piet Croucamp, among others.
“We also have an environmental perspective with Professor Kobus van der Walt, an arbitration in the RSA grain industry with Steve Hochveld and an impact of the current drought on the agricultural sector based on the report recently published by BFAP.”
The event takes place on Wednesday and Thursday.
