Bloemfontein - There is always an answer to a problem, sometimes one just needs to think outside of the box to find the solution.

This is one of the philosophies of the newly appointed managing director of the GWK Group, Llewellyn Brooks. He told OFM News he is very excited about the new opportunity and grateful for the confidence the board has placed in him. Brooks says he has a very simple outlook:

“At GWK we live our dream of providing unique solutions to a business sector that is continually challenged by climate, market volatility, pests, infrastructure or just general market dynamics.

“Personally I have a simple outlook on life. I believe there is always an answer to a problem – you just need to be open to explore the various alternatives. I try to motivate my team to look beyond the obvious.”

Brooks served as MD of Trading at GWK over the last few years, with the division growing its international turnover to about R1 billion in addition to the R3 billion in other trade business.

Brooks is already participating in meetings with relevant stakeholders across the country and says there are numerous new and exciting opportunities that they are exploring.

“It’s quite prudent to be able to say that the GWK Group very keenly investigates and exploits these opportunities as we discover them.

“We have a very inquisitive team at GWK and they are constantly looking for ways to improve or participate in their markets. Sometimes the ideas are sort of ‘space cadet’ ideas, but we try and look at them all objectively and decide on the best possible solutions that we can employ in the company.”

He says over the longer term, plans are to increase GWK’s international activity. In the immediate future, Brooks says they will be continuing discussions with the agribusiness BKB about possible ways of working together and his focus will be on vigorously exploring the options.
