Agri SA welcomes the guidelines on dealing with trespassing and land invasions which protects the rights of legal land owners.
Kobus Breytenbach, chair of the Agri SA’s Rural Safety Committee, commented on the guidelines developed by the police in respect of their role and responsibility to ensure that all police members act within the ambit of applicable legislation and policy when dealing with complaints, regarding trespassing, land invasions and illegal eviction.
Breytenbach gives more detail on what farmers need to do in case trespassing and invasion happen on their farms. He said that when farmers encounter a situation of trespassing, invasion and more, they need to report it immediately to their local police station. He calls on farmers never to take law into their owns hands.
According to him land invasions and trespassing is gladly not a widespread and big problem in the country.
