Bloemfontein - The Free State, described as the bread basket of South Africa, will now implement intensive plans to help the province not only produce products but also process raw agricultural material into the end product.
MEC Benny Malakoane from the Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, initiated an Agro-Processing Business Pitching today in Bloemfontein.
The aim is to unlock opportunities for farmers to enhance agro-processing in the Free State.
Emerging farmers, financial institutes, bigger farmers and other stakeholders attended the Business Pitching.
Malakoane expressed his vision for the agro-processing in the province by giving an example of a farmer producing products, like potatoes, who should be able to get the financial assistance and process and package potato chips.
