Farmworkers who are allegedly ill-treated by their employees on farms in the Qwaqwa district in the Free State's Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality are expected to raise their concerns with high-level government officials on Tuesday.
Agribusiness GWK Trading will launch its new business venture, GWK Pecans, in Kimberley, Northern Cape, on Tuesday. Managing Director of GWK Trading, Tom Meintjies, says the pioneering and the innovative business model of the new business will be discussed while the directors of GWK Pecans will be elected. According to Meintjies, GWK Pecans were formed due to the growing production of pecans in South Africa.
The African continent has the potential to make an enormous contribution towards the United Nations's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). CEO of Potatoes South Africa, André Jooste, recently spoke at the international potato congress in Peru, South America, saying that there is much potential to increase production on the continent taking into account that Africa supplied a mere 5.6% of the world's potatoes between 1994 and 2006.
