Load-shedding affects Harrismith reservoirs

Load-shedding affects Harrismith reservoirs | News Article

Load-shedding by Eskom has negative consequences for water pumping at Harrismith.

The frequent load-shedding experienced lately has affected the water storage at reservoirs in town and Intabazwe at Harrismith in the Free State.

"Since Wilge Park is feeding directly from the main pumping line, it was badly affected by the frequent role of power supply pipelines. The Wilge Park network is also vulnerable due to the ageing infrastructure (asbestos pipe)," this is according to the spokesperson of Maluti-A-Phofung Water (MAP Water), Tebogo Kwakwa.

She says the replacement of all aged infrastructure is identified and included in the Water Master Plan, Water Conservation, and Water Demand Management.

She apologised for any inconvenience caused.
