Two suspects found in possession of dagga and Tik were nabbed in the Northern Cape. The suspects were arrested during random police patrols in Galeshewe near Kimberley on Thursday.

Police spokesperson, Sergio Kock, says the street value of the dagga and drugs that were confiscated from the suspects is about R250 000. He says in the first incident a 26-year-old man, who allegedly carried a bag and 20L bucket in Galeshewe, was stopped and searched and 4.8kg dagga was confiscated from him. Kock adds that the random patrol continued and led to a raid of a house in Soul City were a 34-year-old woman was also nabbed after the police confiscated 45kg of dagga and 24 small bags of Tik.

 The suspects should be appearing in the Galeshewe Magistrate's Court soon.

“The Acting Cluster Commander for Frances Baard, Charlotte Makgari, commended all the Provincial and Cluster SAPS members who formed part of the operations that comprised of roadblocks, VCP's, patrols and random searches. All community members, traffic officers and other roleplayers who assisted are sincerely thanked for the role they played in ensuring the operation is a success,” Kock adds.
