The Free State MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe, mourns the death of a school teacher due to Covid-19 related complications.
Makgoe says he was saddened by the passing of Julius Maruping who is a teacher at Gonyane Primary School in Bloemfontein. He says the deceased passed away last night due to Covid-19 related illnesses.
Maruping now joins the long list of educators who passed away due to Covid-19 in the province. The Provincial Department of Education spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, previously told OFM News that since the outbreak of the virus, 41 teachers and four school pupils had passed away.
Ndaba added that two public servants in the department have also succumbed to the virus. The number of those lost to the virus stood at 47.
