#CoronavirusNW: 13 markers tested positive─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:30 Sat, 23 Jan 2021
A total of 13 North West markers tested positive for Covid-19 by the end of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination papers marking period.
The markers who tested positive are from the eight marking centres in the province.
The provincial Department of Education spokesperson, Elias Malindi, says the province had about 2 626 markers in its 17 marking centres throughout the province.
MEC for Education Wendy Matsemela, says it is sad that some of the markers contracted the virus.
Matsemela, however, says she was pleased that there have not been devastating death cases in the province.
"We wish you a safe journey back home and enjoy this time with your families.
“Today we wrapped up marking of NSC scripts. I take this time to express my sincere gratitude to the heroes and heroines we have in the education sector who selflessly gave their time to mark our candidate’s scripts in the midst of concerning Covid -19 times," Matsemela adds.
Meanwhile, the education department has announced that it has completed the marking of NSC examination papers on Thursday.
