An industrial area in the Free State has been re-purposed to ensure that the buildings are habitable for flood victims.

Many families were forced to evacuate their homes but were able to move into industrial areas, following last week’s heavy rainfall and floods.

On Sunday, the executive mayor of Thabo Mofutsanyana, Malefu Vilakazi, visited these industrial areas to ensure that every flood victim has been provided for.

Inspecting the food storage rooms was vital for Vilakazi to provide for flood victims and their most essential needs.

The coordinator of the Thabo Mofutsanyana Disaster Team, Sthembiso Mthombeni, tells OFM News that Vilakazi ensured that all the temporary tenants received food packages and, importantly, sanitisers and hygiene packs.

Families and their belongings were transported by the municipality to the various demarcated areas of living and will be housed at the various areas until further notice.
