The husband of Lesedi FM’s current affairs radio presenter, Dimakatso Ratselane, is in custody after he was nabbed by the police in Gauteng on Tuesday morning while on the run.

Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says Mackenzie Ratselane’s arrest came a few hours after the police in the Free State issued a warrant for his arrest. He was on the run from the police following the brutal attack on his wife Dimakatso who was found lying in a pool of blood near a popular Tavern in Caleb Motshabi, known as Dinaweng, early on Thursday morning. Makhele says Ratselane was apprehended in Ennerdale and will now appear in court to face a charge of attempted murder. Dimakatso was found in a critical condition with multiple stab wounds and was taken to the Pelonomi Netcare Hospital in Bloemfontein.

The warrant of arrest for Ratselane followed several failed attempts to get into contact with him, in relation to the brutal attack on the popular presenter. It is believed that they quarrelled on their way to fetch her children in phase 2.

“Within 24 hours after his warrant of arrest was issued, the team worked around the clock, following all leads, until the early hours of this morning when they followed intelligence-driven information which led them to a house in Gauteng. On Tuesday 16 February 2021 at about 10:30, the Free State team, supported by the Soweto Flying Squad, arrived at a house in Ennerdale where they found the suspect in hiding,” Makhele adds.

Meanwhile, police commissioner Baile Motswenyane thanked the police for all their hard work which led to the arrest of Ratselane.
