The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has lifted the suspension on Mango Airlines with immediate effect.

The low-cost airline was grounded on Wednesday due to the non-payment of debts.

ACSA, in a statement, says the airline has made a partial payment towards the amount owed for landing fees, parking fees, and passenger service charges.

"The airline has made further undertakings to settle the remaining debt.

"It is under these circumstances that Airports Company South Africa has agreed to lift the suspension on Mango Airline," the statement read.

The airline spokesperson, Benedict Zubane, says it will resume flights as early as this evening.

"We are able to fly as soon as possible.

"We're trying to see if we can't make alternative flying arrangements for those passengers stranded.

"We will be flying from this evening.”
