The shoplifting trial against the former NPA regional head of the Special Commercial Crime Unit and deputy director of senior prosecutors in the North West has been set for 3 November 2021.

Jeanette Nevelling is facing shoplifting charges after she was allegedly caught red-handed with stolen grocery and clothing items at a Woolworths store in Mahikeng.

The incident took place at the Crossing Shopping Mall in Mahikeng.

The incident occurred at the time when Nevelling was also prosecuting high-ranking officials in the North West, including former Finance MEC Wendy Nelson.

Nevelling is currently out on R500 bail.

Reasons advanced by the court is that the National Prosecuting Authority has since studied the docket in order to determine whether the matter warrants a prosecution.
